This year’s expo will mainly focus on new electric two-wheelers, a clear indication of the time we live in. There’s one e-motorcycle likely to turn the most heads at the event. Enter the eMotion Surge, a motorcycle which was designed with just one tool in hand: a ruler. If you recall, eMotion had already unveiled the Surge last year, so we expect the company to announce its price at this year’s event.
They say looks are subjective, and we agree. So, if we say this motorcycle looks a bit odd you won’t @us, would you? Except for the wheels, there’s not even a single design element here with a curve. And oh, have you taken a good look at that pointy “tank”?

The Surge comes with most of the features you’d expect from an electric motorcycle. You get a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity, GPS navigation, and a reverse mode. The electric motor offers 28Nm of torque at 2,800rpm, mated to a four-speed gearbox. Yes, this electric motorcycle comes with a transmission. Because of that, we expect it to be priced a bit higher than, say, the Revolt RV400. The bike maker claims it has a top speed of 120kmph and will do the 0-60kmph sprint in under 4 seconds.
eMotion has equipped the Surge with a 40Ah removable battery which offers a range of 100km. The manufacturer hasn’t revealed a standard charging time but it says the battery can be charged in just 30 minutes in ‘Express Charging’ mode. Under the pointy panels lie some very solid hardware. For instance, it gets a USD fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Brakes are from Bybre: 300m disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear. It gets regenerative braking as well.
We will get more details on the price and availability of the Surge once it is officially launched. Until then, we have some questions. Will it scale up to the likes of the RV400 in terms of availability? Will its edgy design be everyone’s cup of tea? Only time will tell.
